Gemini

I saw a space ship flying through the air

When I looked back I noticed you weren't there

I hollered loud, but I couldn't see your hair

I walked home that night alone worried 'bout you dear

Maybe you knew something, something that I didn't

And you hitched a ride out of town to see the fucked up planet

Out hearing all the static, choosing what you want

And believing in a power that probably reigns from outer space

Oh you're way out there babe

Sometimes at night I think I see you in the stars

It seems like you're spying, spying from afar

Maybe you're still out there zipping coast to coast

Or toasting different sockets of a life you used to hold

I remember hearing screams and lots of cloudy smoke

I saw a beam of light lift away your coat

I closed my eyes just horrified, reaching for your hand

And when the madness ended I knew it was the end

With a guilt in my heart and a burning in my side

I watched the craft from outer space drift into the sky

Sometimes at night I think I see you in the stars

It seems like you're spying, spying from afar

Maybe you're still out there zipping coast to coast

Or toasting different sockets of a life you used to hold

Sirens came and news galore, they interviewed me twice

I told them all I knew, sorry if I cried

During the commotion I spotted something hidden

And I walked to pick it up, more scribbled than written

A little scrap of paper folded into two

I tore the first one up but the second said "To You"

I looked it over, read it twice, just to understand

That you had sailed to space to find happiness again

My heart sank to the floor as I noticed once again

The glow from the moon was beaming in the end
